My name is Caitlyn and I live in the tropical Florida Keys. My parents finished high school online and didn’t have an interest in college; therefore they went to work instead. My dad now knows the better option for him would have been to get a higher education beyond high school. Living in a strict household they had a rule that if I move out at eighteen, they wouldn’t pay for my college and if I stayed they would. I decided that I will find a way to pay for my college with the help of applying for scholarships and loans. I have hope that I will be able to make it without them and prove I am capable of. My older cousin has encouraged me and has assured me that there is a way and I will be able to make it and get an education I want, just like she did. Don’t be discouraged if your parents didn’t go to college, or they won’t/can’t help you, if you want something, want it with a passion and work hard and put in the effort and have persistence and it will come to you. Hard work pays off! You can do this.
