So what are your plans this summer? Enjoying the weather? Getting a job? Traveling? Landing that internship?

Well, whatever your plans are, make sure to enjoy what you are doing and put your interests first!

As for me, I will be interning at the United Nations for a group that focuses on Middle East Peace! For those wondering how on Earth I managed to find this internship I will tell you!

With the guidance of a Professor of mine, over spring break I, along with four other BU students, attended a series of conferences on the Commission of the Status of Women as delegates for Women in Sociologists in Society. In one of these conferences we befriended the President of the organization for Middle East Peace and the rest is history!

Although finding jobs and landing internships is a difficult process, I have a few tips for those of you who do not know where to begin!

First, always check with your school! Whether it be high school or college, schools have great information about local job listings!

Second, for those who are currently in college, always try to work for your university. Working for your college is a great way to get involved and begin networking! Colleges have huge interconnected networks, through which departments all communicate!

Third, check with your state or municipal governments for local job listings! For example, many states offer paid summer internships for both undergraduate and graduate students! As a native New Yorker, I know that the Citywide Department of Administrative Services offers various internships in all fields- from business and legal services to real estate and IT services! Well, I hope these tips were useful and I hope everyone enjoys their summer break!
