As the semester comes to a close, it is very easy to forget how fortunate one may be. I know personally, I have a lot of things to be thankful for! I also know firsthand how it can be very easy to allow daily stresses take over your mind and make you forget the awesome things in your life. With Thanksgiving coming up, I suggest that you all take some time to remind yourself of the things that you have that you are thankful for. It is definitely worthwhile and probably cathartic to remind yourself of the blessings that you have.
I personally think that this blog post is coming at a great time for me. I’ve had one of my most stressful weeks as a collegiate student (4 tests in 4 days, just finished 2 weeks of budget hearings for Student Government, and having to balance typical RA duties) and it has been very easy for me to not feel too great… But I know I have lots of things to be thankful for!
I am thankful for my family! My parents are a couple hours away from me but I know they would come to Charleston in a heartbeat if I needed them or if I needed a weekend at home to get away from the stress. It is excellent to know that at the very base, I have two people who will always have my back. Thanks Mom and Dad!
I am thankful for the new friends I have made this year and friends from the past. I honestly do not know what I would do without the people around me. Every single person I consider a friend has helped shape me to be who I am today… And I am very thankful for that!
If you are feeling stressed in this difficult/busy time of the school year, I really recommend you take a second to reflect. Reflect on what you are thankful for… And then let it be known! It is definitely a good feeling to tell someone that they mean something to you. It may feel like we don’t have time to do anything except for school, but this is important! You are important and so are your relationships, so be sure to make sure both of those things are healthy. Be thankful for yourself! You are awesome!
