I think this semester has been my best one yet! All of my classes (just about) are extremely interesting and have kept my attention consistently over the course of the semester – which is usually not the case. Also, I feel like I’m finally a part of some great organizations and play a meaningful role at my job in the Office of Admission. I’m learning a lot both in and out of the classroom.

But honestly, as good as this has all been, I am in dire need of a break! My weeks, my days, my hours are packed with so much that I feel like I may forget to breath at times. Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely enjoying all that I do and find it rewarding, but too much of anything can be a bad thing.

I never actually forget to breath, but I definitely forget to eat a little too often. More times than I can count, I have laid head to pillow and realized that I hadn’t eaten since breakfast. My friends – who share my pain – and I call it “the struggle.” Well, the struggle has been all too real lately. But there is a horizon in view: Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away!

This year, Emory (finally) decided to cancel classes the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which means I will be able to make my way home on that Tuesday. Yes! Just as excited as I am about a break from all the work I’ll be leaving behind, I sit here elated just thinking about the amount of food that I am going to devour on that glorious day. (Well, let’s be honest. If I’m going to be home a whole two days earlier, I’m definitely going to be doing a lot of pre-eating – I mean I’ll need it to stretch my stomach again anyway!)

I’m exited about all that the end of this semester is going to bring my way. The challenges and the rewards are all welcomed! But I’m definitely glad about enjoying this break to catch up on a few meals and maybe even some sleep.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
