As we enter the third month of the semester I can’t help but think back to when I was starting college.
We would often have college students come and visit us in high school who would talk about their experiences and what college was like. I was always so incredibly terrified because they all made college seem so difficult, so impossible. I went into my first year with that same fear and mindset but it wasn’t all bad. Because I was so concerned about not being able to keep up, I often would get ahead to ensure I had a good enough amount of time just in case I didn’t understand any information.
Now I know that if you are making the right decisions, school really isn’t all that bad. It does have its moments when it seems unbearable, but once you get the hang of it, it isn’t all that bad. Just make sure that you are reading the required chapters before class, that way the professor can go over it the next day and clear up any questions or concerns you have. I have also found that writing your notes in class and then rewriting them when studying helps to make them more organized and easier to remember as you’re repeatedly going over the information.
All in all, don’t be afraid. Everyone finds their groove and if you’re having a hard time, make sure you reach out to someone who can help make finding the right balance easier for you!
Until next time,
Andrea
