As my winter vacation approached I felt very happy. I longed for a break from books and lectures, and for some time to myself . I did not feel like turning in the last assignments for my classes because I felt like my batteries had ran out and my brain wasn’t working properly. However, I pushed through and completed all of the assignments that I had left. I did not want any bad grades for sure. I did know that in my psychology class I was not going to do so great, and I was right. But, a C wasn’t too bad for my first semester in college.

During my winter vacation, I took a little bit of time to realize that I have to work hard for what I want and that it will not be easy. I looked at motivational videos on YouTube so that I could push myself and get started, and it has actually worked! Since I did not want to depend so much on my mother either, I got a part-time job so that I can have pocket money for anything I want or anything I need. But surely, I will likely spend the money on  my needs rather than my wants or who knows! During the break I also started working out and eating more healthy just because I do not develop any diseases and be discontent with myself. I am actually seeing progress and that makes me love myself for taking the initiative to work out without having a family or friends to actually push me.

Regarding 2014 and my academic goals, I have told myself that I need to read more and not procrastinate as much as I did last semester. I believe that, since my schedule is more flexible, I will have more time to study and keep track of the things that I have to do. In addition to that, I actually bought a planner to keep myself organized and be aware of deadlines. I am still thinking about how I will deal with my personal and academic goals, my time, and my job, but for now, I don’t want to stress it. It will all fall into place, I hope.
