To say that I’m not terrified of the future or my after school plans would be a huge misgiving on my part. So I will not begin this post talking of how I have my life together and how I know exactly what I want to do in life. Because the truth is: I don’t. And for some odd reason I had the belief while applying to colleges that I would know exactly where I wanted to be and how to get there after getting my degree in whatever subject and whatever field of study.

In fact, I thought I should know exactly what I wanted and needed to know before I even stepped foot on a college campus. However, I am now in the spring semester of my junior year, and I can honestly say that to each answer I thought I wanted/needed, I got an overwhelming assortment of questions, questions, a bit of confusion, some disappointment in myself, and more questions.

This post is to all of those students (either applying to college or already in their undergrad) who feel lost. This is your reminder and reassurance that: It is okay to not know everything! The beauty of life is that there is no concrete path to follow. The choice is literally yours! So don’t get caught up on timelines, and expectations, and just do what makes you happy and what feels right.

I am asking you right now, in this moment to take a breathe:
Inhale…
Exhale…
Repeat (until your racing heart and mind are settled and calm)

And most importantly remember: There is no right or wrong decision. There is no strict timeline. There is just you, your dreams, and all the passion and drive inside of you to push pass any obstacle that may stand in your way.

Slowly, but surely, I am learning to breathe, to reflect, and to be okay with the uncertainties of life. It is okay! You got this! WE got this!
