As a student who was always involved during high school and loved to be well known, I felt that it was going to be something like that in college. It was not. In college, you have to really prioritize what you want to be involved with. There are so many clubs on campus that you want to be involved in, but you have to really think about what clubs you want to devote yourself to. Having to focus on one or two clubs will enable you to get something out of it, as it may well look good on your resume. As a person who got loans the first year of college, I had to take 3 jobs to cover my expenses. Obviously, it depends on your schedule and how much you can put on your plate. I had time during freshman year which is why I did that. Of course, being a leader can be done in classroom settings as professors, especially in small liberal arts schools can notice with smaller classroom sizes or even at the jobs you pick up.
