One thing about scholarships is that they are always around; you just have to know who to talk to. Although your financial aid package can be set, that does not mean you cannot seek further scholarships later on. Talk to the financial aid office and work with them, or see your advisor to see what other scholarships are available. For example, my advisor told me how there was a scholarship going around for people who wanted to be statistics concentrators. Though being a statistician was not initially in my mind at all, I entertained the prospect once I knew that there was a scholarship; and then I did my research. When doing my research I felt like I would be interested in being a statistician, as many people who are economics majors are also statisticians. In a way, it was as if I was being benefited two ways. First, there is the money, of course, and second, it would be a really good skill to have when applying for jobs. So I took it, and ever since my sophomore year, I was able to pay off all my loans, and I will not have to worry about that again moving forward, as my scholarship covers the remainder of my tuition.
