You’re finally a high school graduate and soon-to-be college freshman! While you may not be heading to campus until August, there are still a few things you can do to stay organized and to help make your transition as smooth as possible:

1. Send In Final Transcripts Some colleges will require a final transcript from your high school. Be sure to check to see if your new school requires this! If so, be sure to get that document in ASAP. This information will help your college and advisors get a better sense of what classes you will take during your first semester.

2. Get to Know Your Roommate By now, you probably already have been assigned your roommate. Summer is a great time to hit up your new roomie and get to know them better! Whether you Facetime, Skype or text each other, building a relationship now can makes things a bit less awkward once you move in.

3. Get Your Financial Aid In Order Before you step foot on campus, you’ll want to make sure all of your financial aid information is in order. Do not hesitate to contact your school’s financial aid office to see if you’re missing any important documents. Summer will allow time to tie up any loose ends for financial aid. Not having your financial aid in order may jeopardize your chances of enrolling in classes or even moving into your dorm!

4. Updated Health/Immunization Records Tons of colleges require that students get physicals and shots prior to arrive to campus. In your welcome packet from your school, you should have received information about what next steps you need to take to ensure that you’re happy and healthy once you arrive to campus. Be sure to have your paperwork submitted on time! Happy Organizing!
