Getting into college is already a complex and sometimes confusing process for those of us who don’t know anyone personally that has done it before. It’s sometimes unfair that after that whole process comes the more confusing and overwhelming one of financial aid. I’m extremely fortunate to have a mother that was able to learn with me and help guide me through the process, and that was achieved by reaching out to others for help. My guidance counselor in high school was a huge contributor for showing us the resources and processes that are usually followed, so I couldn’t recommend that outlet enough. I personally only had to fill out my FASFA, but I’m sure your counselor could help guide you if any other paperwork comes up. Initially, the whole process was confusing and nerve-wracking, since for me it was hard to tell right away if it was filled out correctly. My college also gifted me a scholarship, which was a huge factor going into my financial aid. I know where I attend there is a designated financial aid office, and I just know they wouldn’t mind helping out an incoming student if they’re really at a loss. Don’t stress too much, you can do it!!
