Hello World!
My name is Dave Stael Lacroix and I am currently a Freshman at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. So far, College has been off to a fast pace! I was a part of the first generation student program at Dartmouth College known as FYSEP( First Year Student Enrichment Program). This program has helped me immensely and as today is my first day of school, I am off to a fast pace! I do my best to stay focused and not get distracted. Classes were for the most part very straight forward today. I started off with Chinese, Math, and Writing. These classes are not that intense but nonetheless, I must plan my time meticulously. Although it is my first day in Dartmouth College, I have come to realize that if one does not utilize their time correctly they will ultimately set themselves up for not only disaster, but inevitable failure. My game plan for this fall term is simple–utilize every single moment that I have free to study and stay on top of all my work. I am a bit hesitant on clubs although I have a keen interest in joining the Dartmouth Humanitarian Engineering Club, The Korean Culture Club, and the Chinese Culture Club. I do not want to over commit myself and strain my schedule, I want to be very smart about how I do things. Many of my classmates are just cruising through right now with their classes but as the saying goes at Dartmouth College, they are “Sitting Ducks”. This saying means that on the surface they look fine and dandy, but underneath, they are struggling to stay afloat and paddling vigorously to keep up appearances. Moral of what I get from this saying is this: Not everyone will have a perfect life here. If you need help…GO GET IT! Dartmouth College is a heavy investment and I have come to far to simply give up at the slightest hint of a challenge!
