Valentine’s Day is around the corner so I thought I’d make this clear for you high school students or freshmen in college. College is not an institution that manufactures boyfriends and girlfriends. It’s not the place where you go hunting for your future spouse. It’s not the place where you can recreate your own dramatic version of the Bachelorette.

College is about you doing you! It’s the time where you find yourself. As corny as it sounds it’s the time for you to love yourself and not feel any sense of insecurity. So focus your time on knowing more about yourself and whatever concepts your professor are trying to drill in your head.

I think that’s what I love about my school. People are so focus on learning, changing the world, and being a better version of themselves. A lot of people value the idea that you better change the person in the mirror first in order to have a better world. And, they know it takes a long time. Possibly the whole four years of college. I’m not saying that people are stiff and isolate themselves in a box. I am saying people here think more about better themselves and the world that they try to avoid as much distractions. Friends or a partner may fall into your lap. That’s fine. But hunting them down is not something you should be doing.
