Today is September 6th, 2014 and I have officially been living on the Boston University campus for a full week. For those of you who don’t know, I am a transfer student here at BU who started off at a community college in Southern California. As you can imagine, my new and very large university is overwhelming compared to the small school I started off at – but I like it this way. Within the course of a week I have gone to all my classes, done a large load of homework, made new and very diverse friends, and have had an absolute blast! One thing that makes a university so exciting is all the opportunities offered on campus. For example, I attended an event today filled with students recruiting new members to a variety of clubs that ranged from yoga and meditation to global brigade work. Although I already have a tight schedule, I plan to stop by a handful of the clubs that caught my attention as their first meetings approach. Clubs are an extremely awesome way to meet new people while also discussing or planning events that revolve around your passions. As first generation college students, I believe it is even more important to get involved! Introduce yourself to people and clubs that you normally would have passed by in high school because the abundance of genuine and interesting people you meet may surprise you!

Cheers to a new year and good luck guys!
