Work before pleasure.

I am currently in my junior year of college and it has been going great. When I was in High School I had a lot of weird perceptions of what college would be like and now that I am in college they were all wrong. When I was in High School, I thought college would be all about hanging out with friends and hardly any work. I thought I would be away from my parents and be my own person. I was really wrong about this. I hardly have anytime to chill all day and hang out. Yes, you should go out and have fun, but only after all of your work is done. I live in an apartment now and have to pay bills so free time isn’t as abundant as I had imagined. I have to work a job to pay for my bills and all my other expenses, and I have to go to class and study to get good grades. College really has helped me mature though and I feel more ready every year to take on the post college world.

One of the biggest things I have learned in my three years of being in college is time management. It seems like a simple and easy thing, but once you are immersed in college and all the activities it brings it becomes very hard. It’s hard to balance friends and school work, studying and going out, having a job and fitting in time to sleep. Time management becomes crucial to success. My freshman year I wasn’t too good at it, but now, I am a junior and I have it down. I don’t feel stressed out because I get everything done in a timely manner and I still have time to go out and hang with my friends. My mom always told me work before pleasure, and now I fully understand what she meant.
