Rejection is the root of a lot of different negative emotions that one could feel towards themselves. Lack of confidence, appearance issues, even pushing yourself academically can be held back by the fear of rejection. Waiting for those life-changing letters to finally make their way to you will definitely be a staple of one of the most exciting and overwhelming events in your life thus far. The biggest importance to keep in your mind as you’re patiently waiting is that these letters do not define who you are as a person. No matter if you didn’t get in or didn’t get much of a scholarship, that doesn’t make you any less hardworking or deserving of success. Everything happens for a reason, so take this as just one unforeseen step pushing you in your correct direction. I was extremely lucky to get into all 5 of the colleges that I applied to, but I was extremely upset when my dream school didn’t give me enough aid for me to comfortably attend. I was heartbroken and second-guessed myself every day if I should change my mind or stick to my gut. Ultimately I decided that bending over backward to attend this school was not what I was looking for, so I instead went with the college that wasn’t even on my radar because of the generous scholarship I was awarded. I’m thankful every single day I made that decision. I absolutely love the college I ended up at, and I wouldn’t change anything even if I could. As bad as it sounds, I will forever be grateful I couldn’t attend my past dream school because where I am now is completely worth all that struggle back then. So keep your head up, and always keep an eye out for the silver lining, it just might be better than you could’ve ever imagined.
