WHOA?! Really?! Is there only ONE MONTH of school left?
Time FLEW by. Just comes to show that you really have to make every second worth something!
This past semester has been very tough on me, going from taking 4 classes to 7 classes (which is almost unheard of for freshmen here) was way too dramatic of a change for me. But what can I say, I’m just too darn ambitious for my own good.
I definitely wish I would have gone a little easier on myself this semester, after all it’s still my freshman year!
Albeit, this just means my next semester will be much lighter since I got two extra classes out of the way early.
I’ve already decided to change my major! Haha yep! It happens to everyone! The plan is to now double-major in:
1) Public Health: Health, behavior & society
2) Anthropology
Then I might pursue either a career in education, research, or community practice. We will see. 🙂
Good news, I was hired as a Resident Adviser (RA). I get to interact and lead freshmen next year! I’m SO excited! Somehow I managed to get the position and I’m sooo proud of myself! It really gave me confidence to pursue other big leadership positions on campus. Getting this job means I will be LOAN-FREE once I graduate college (that is of course, if I continue to keep the position all four years which usually happens with all RAs) since the position pays about $7,600/year! I get a single room all to myself, and a wonderful opportunity to mentor students from all walks of life!
I was also selected to become a Student Alumni Ambassador (SAA), which means I now get exclusive access to faculty-only events! It’s a great job for networking and I’m one of four freshmen in the group which is dominated by upperclassmen. We really did make the cut!
So…I might not be coming home this summer, since I was offered a Research Job! I’ve held a research assistant position in a psychology study this past semester, the position gave me academic credit but no actual payment. However, my supervisor has liked my work ethic so much that she’s decided to offer me a promotion! I would start THIS summer, and would get paid $10/hour. I still haven’t decided on whether I will be able to take the position or not (taking the position means I would have to find a place to live here in Rochester), but will definitely decide soon!
This semester has been CRAZY. Somehow, I’m still alive. There were points in which I didn’t even get to sleep in my own room for two-days straight. I would go to class, then do research, then go to cheerleading practice, then go to theater rehearsal, then go to the library to study ALL NIGHT, go to my house and shower and then go to class…and REPEAT. Thank goodness the cheerleading season is over and my play has closed! I now have more time to rest, though I’m still BUSY BUSY BUSY!
I’ll try to post a video blog soon, I’d love to give y’all a glimpse of where I live and the surrounding area 🙂 Till, then, wish me luck!
With hopes & dreams intact,
