Hi there High school friends,

If you’re an undocumented first generation student, like me, you might be going through some of the same things I experienced. My journey to get to college was not the traditional one. In some ways I went through similar experiences as my peers. In other ways I went through a completely different path. Let me share a resource that made a huge difference in my life.

The DreamUS is a scholarship program that will help pay for my college tuition. If you are a senior in high school who is undocumented and are worried about affordability, you should look further into this. This scholarship program has multiple partner colleges where the money for this scholarship can be applied. I put the link of the partner colleges bellow. After you’re selected as a recipient of this scholarship  and are admitted to one of the partner schools in your home state, this scholarship will help pay for tuition for four years of college. If it wasn’t for the support from this scholarship, college would not have been affordable for me.

Here at the University of Houston, I have meet other students that are recipients of the same scholarship. It feels great to be able to know others that share the same experiences as you do.

As always, if you want to chat more about this subject or previous ones, feel free to leave comments here.
