Freshmen year is almost halfway over and I will soon come home and eat my mom’s amazing Mexican dishes and reunite with old friends. However, I am so happy to say, that college has been treating me so well, that sometimes I forget that I am more than 1,000 miles away from home. With all the midterms, assignments, readings and more, I have forgotten how blessed I should be for the friends and family I have, as well as everything else that has shaped me to become who I am today. It sometimes takes times like these, such as writing a blog post, to realize how far you have gotten and be thankful for life in general. I would have never thought to be studying to become a mechanical engineer at one of the best universities in the country, as well as being so far away from home. Being the first person in my family is a bit difficult ,because you’re not just a role model for your immediate family, but also of many others. However, I know that I am making many of those who have and continue to support me throughout this amazing journey so proud. I am happy to give thanks to my two lovely mentors who pushed me to strive for what I love such as engineering. I would also love to give thanks to my Spanish Teacher, Mrs. Martinez who has supported me academically/socially for half my life, and of course, my dear and lovely college bound adviser, Ms. Marano who is the main reason on why I even went to college. Each person, event, club, team and aspect of my life have given me the power and confidence to challenge myself and try new things. Everyday is a new day with a new problem in which, I slowly struggle, but at the end, I think about those who have helped me and I continue to work hard because I want to make them proud. I have attached a few pictures to show how my freshmen year has been so far and all the things I have tried, or am learning this semester.
