Summer Time
Summer is my favorite time of the year because it is stress free and relaxing. I get to hang out with friends and I do not usually have too many responsibilities. This year was a different summer for me though. I decided to stay in Flagstaff for the summer instead of going back home to Phoenix. I have an apartment in Flagstaff and I signed a lease for one year so I decided to stay since I am paying rent. I had to get a job and I worked 30-40 hours per week so I could pay my bills and other things I needed. I worked as a field attendant at my school which means I just maintained the fields, clean bathrooms, take the trash out, and I had to get water for the people using the fields. It was a cool and fun job and I was able to make a good amount of money for school.
Not staying at home for the summer was very weird and different. I did not have my mom or dad to do things for me anymore. I had to shop for myself and cook for myself. I was never the best cook but recently I have gotten decent at it. I can make basic easy things like pasta, eggs, beef and pizza. I also had to do my own laundry, pay my own bills, maintain my car and actually clean on a regular basis. I am a pretty messy person so it was hard to get myself to clean. It was different but I really enjoyed it. I felt like I had control of my entire life and it prepared me for what life after college will be like. Whenever I do go back home it makes me appreciate how much my parents actually do for me. I never realized how much work it is to live on your own and all the responsibilities it comes with.
