As a junior in college I am in disbelief that I am halfway to graduation. However, at the same time, I feel as though I have gradually detached myself from the roots of my hometown and no longer reflect much on high school memories like I did my first two years. In the last two years I have personally grown so much and I actually feel confident in the concept of adapting to any new environment. Life as a university student is definitely more than what I anticipated while still in high school. Yes, the long lectures and even longer nights were expected, but never did I previously think that I would be as independent and opportunistic as I am today. My experiences at Boston University have broadened my world views and have taught me to be a more critical as well as independent thinker. I discovered my major here at BU – International Relations – and it has sparked passions that I am eager to grow on. I am always excited to attend class now that I know where I want to go and how my studies will put me one step closer to my dream. I plan to one day be a social entrepreneur; creating businesses that do good for the communities they are a part of. My bigger goal though is to achieve this plan on a global scale – helping countries develop while still maintaining the beauty of their cultures. I may be two years down, but I have two more years to discover more about myself and the opportunities in the world. Cheers to a new year!
Reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future
