Anna in Greensboro, NC

First off, I would like to congratulate you on choosing to pursue an undergraduate degree. My name is Anna P., and I am a senior at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and I am also a first generation college student. College is a place where I have been able to explore new interests and build upon the skills I have already developed.

As an upperclassman, I have three tips that will save you time and sleepless nights:
1- Introduce yourself to your professors! Use your time in college to get to know your faculty. They are invaluable resources for advice, recommendation letters, and building your professional network.
2- Get involved! Make sure you are intentional about how you spend your time outside of the classroom. Join a student organization or volunteer!
3- Have fun! Make sure you cherish the experience of going to college! Being the first in your family to attend college is exciting! Enjoy the ride and make the most of your four years.
