Hello, guys!

Happy New Year! I hope that this year is full of blessings for each and every one of you reading this blog.

As a senior, I am writing this blog to you so that you guys can make sure to take all of the courses that you actually NEED during your freshman, sophomore, and junior year in college. This way your senior year in college won’t be overwhelmed by the load of courses that you have to take. If you are a freshman, my advice to you would be to speak to your counselor about your current interests so that he or she can guide you and make sure that you are getting your general education courses out of the way. Within these courses, you are also able to explore different possible career paths that may draw your attention. Hence, my best advice to you when making choices based on the classes that you explore is to stay true to yourself. Ask yourself some serious questions about your decisions… Do you see yourself in the field that you have already chosen? Do you see yourself in the field that this class belongs to? Will it be something that you will cherish and enjoy doing? Will you have the patience in the actual field? The reason I chose these questions is because the theoretical education is very different from the practical one. This is to say, issues or unforeseen matters that you took for granted in class, or that you may have missed or never talked about before, may arise and change your perspective about what you want to do. Hopefully by then is not already too late! Hence, take advantage of internship opportunities whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, go out in the field to see what the field is all about and see if it’s something you would like to do or not. The sooner you know, the better choices you will make 🙂

Also, if you are not loaded with courses, try to minor in a field! This way, if you have to change your major at any point, you already have your minor as an option for your major. This makes things a bit easier!

I hope this blog was of help to you!

Sincerely,

Brenda
