So although I am in college I am in the same place that many of the readers are. Just like I did junior year of high school, I am spending all of my free time looking at schools. No I am not transferring, instead I am looking into graduate programs. Yes I am one of those crazy people who go to even more school after college! I have found myself looking into many of the same aspects that I looked at when I was looking at schools when I was in high school; like location, cost, and programs. All of these things are just as important to me now as they were then. Of course there are other things that I know now that I find to also be important that I didn’t think about then. Like scholarships! For those of you who are still looking into what college you want to go to, look to see if you are eligible for any of the scholarships they have to offer. Also look for outside scholarships (like this one… yay for CSO! :])
I am, of course, running into many of the difficulties that I ran into when I was originally looking into schools, 4 years ago (wow time flies!) One of those is the fact that I still have people, mainly family, telling me that I am in the wrong field and that I shouldn’t be going into the field that I am going into. Something that I am reminded of everyday is that what you do is so much more enjoyable when you are passionate about it and it is your life to live so you better do something you really want to do, whether that is long term or short term – it is something that I follow all the time. Keep that in mind, no matter what you are doing.
For those of you who are starting to look at schools or are narrowing it down, or trying to make your final decision of where to go. Remember that there are plenty of people who are going through the same stressful and exhilarating process. Hope everyone is enjoying their year! :]
