Around this time it’s nice to be able to sit down and be thankful for the people who have helped me over my years at UT. First, my family, my Nonno has always been my biggest supporter and when I feel like I can’t do it, he reminds me that I can. My dad has always been here to remind me that I come from a culture that endures, he always tells me his favorite Mexican proverb, “They tried to bury us, but they didn’t know we were seeds”. This has been something that I always refer to when I’m struggling when I feel like the world is against me. Thankfully, I also have support on campus. I am part of an organization called “Women of Excellence” and this is where I have found my home away from home. These women keep me accountable and remind me that I am powerful and strong when I need it. Aside from that, I have gained mentors that have been with me through the big decisions I’ve made at UT. From changing my major to deciding that I want to go to graduate school. I have been truly blessed to find these people and have them in my life. I hope that wherever you are, you find your support system.
