College has been the best time of my life. I am currently a sophomore at Northern Arizona University and it’s been amazing. College is definitely really scary at first because you do not know anyone and you are about to be on your own for months at a time and no parents. I had the luxury of living with one of my friends from high school so that really made it easy. However, once you start making friends and figuring out where all your classes are it starts to get really fun.

One of the best things about college is that you get to live with some of your best friends. I would really suggest rooming with people you like because that makes college way more enjoyable. This year, I live in an apartment with 3 of my best friends and I can honestly say it’s been the best year of my life. I have had so much fun doing dumb things with them. For example, one time my roommate was sleeping and we ran into his room, stole all his sheets and threw water on him, or we stay up till 3 in the morning watching Parks and Recreation on Netflix. Living with friends helps you forget about being homesick and helps you feel more comfortable. At first, I missed my parents a lot and wanted to go home. But, as I made more friends and got more comfortable I started to forget all that and started to really enjoy college and grow as a person.

The second best thing I love about college is having my own room. You don’t really realize how great it is to have your own room until you have to share one freshman year. I instantly became grateful for everything I had back at home after my freshman year of college. All the little things you take for granted, become not so little anymore. If anything, college has made me more humble and grateful for the life my parents gave me. Having your own room is a luxury, and now that I have my own room sophomore year, I am extremely grateful for it because I have more own space and I don’t wake up to my roommates alarm anymore.
