Wake up, 7:32 AM
Can’t believe it’s time to do it over again..
Yep, it’s the first day of classes. Not only is it extremely early, but also it’s also -4 degrees outside.
Now, I’ll be the first one to admit that I would rather crawl back in my bed. Always. No questions about it. But I’m not sure it that’s the right attitude to have going into second semester of junior year. I am an upper classman after all..
Actually, who am I kidding, being an upper classman has nothing to do with having the right attitude when it comes to academia. It’s something that needs to come from within, and not from your parents, or anyone else telling you to go to class and do your best. When I was a sophomore in high school I hated math. Fact. I could not stand it, I didn’t like it, and it did not like me. So I decided that I wasn’t going to try my best because my best just wasn’t good enough.
But my math teacher shared this awesome piece of writing that changed my life. The piece is entitled ‘Attitude” and I want to share it with you guys! It is written by Charles Swindoll and I guarantee it’ll be a good read.
Attitude
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes. ”
~ Charles Swindoll
So now that you’ve read all about attitude, maybe decide if you’s needs a bit of an adjustment. I know mine did! 🙂
