Spring Break 2012 can be summed up with road trips, ultimate Frisbee, stargazing fireworks. Break started at 3:00pm on Friday the 16th after my paper was due. An hour after that the Frisbee team drove down to Pennsylvania to get ready for a tournament in New Jersey on Saturday. Stress lifted off my shoulders as we drove away from Williamstown. I felt relieved, I didn’t have to think about any midterms or papers, and could focus on playing ultimate Frisbee, and having fun for the next two weeks. After the tournament we drove ten hours down to Nags Head, North Carolina. This was my first time going down the east coast and it was remarkable. The trees changed from gray and dead into vibrant and full of life over the course of four hours. I even saw the Chesapeake Bay Bridge when we were driving through Virginia and that sight was astounding. Traveling reminded me that there is so much more in the world to see and experience. I’ve never really had a road trip, and I’ve never been in any of these states. I am extremely grateful because I was given the opportunity to go on these new adventures.

After ten hours of driving from Pennsylvania we finally got to Nags Head. High 70s, blue skies, and a house on the beach, I was thrilled. I’ve always been a fan of scenery and this was perfect. I was on vacation and I didn’t have anything stressful to worry about. We practiced once in the morning and once in the afternoon every day that week. Even though practice was grueling and difficult, it was worth it because we were improving immensely. But at night I was able to enjoy the beach and the stars. Every night I went outside onto the sandy shores and gazed at the sky. The stars were bright and vibrant. The best part was that there was zero light pollution so I was able to see the Big Dipper, Little Dipper, Orion’s belt, and a few other constellations. I love stargazing, and being in North Carolina during spring break gave me the opportunity to enjoy it to the fullest. Along with stargazing, I was able to catch a fireworks show on the beach. It was extremely random but so beautiful.

Spring break isn’t over yet. But I wanted to take some time off and blog about my experiences so far. It has been extremely wonderful. Right now, I am in Atlanta enjoying some rest and relaxation with a few of my closest friends. This spring break may be the first but it will definitely not be the last. I will continue to explore and enjoy new experiences that will test me as an individual and push me out of my comfort zone. This entire trip was possible because I am in college. I am an extremely fortunate individual because without the friends that I’ve met at Williams I would not be able to do any of this.
