As a first-generation college student, I am keenly aware of the barriers facing many of our youth in today’s society. I am a political science major because I care about making an impact on the greater society through my initiative and ingenuity.
This holiday season, I consider myself blessed to collaborate with CSO to further the cause of empowering underrepresented students in higher education. I have even taken a step further to where in the near future, my blog will be used as a recruiting tool for Miami University.
I do my part to build youth confidence because I view my actions in a larger context. CSO is doing more than just giving students access to college; we are trying to cultivate students who will break barriers and contribute to moving this country forward.
I see a dilemma where students with potential are lacking in guidance and true mentorship. CSO, through networking with colleges and high schools, can bridge that gap to help students finally reach their destinations in life. As a blogger, I am aware of my role in the empowerment of youth through education and I am truly hoping that you are aware of your role in this cause.
