Well here I am, about six week into college, and it is great! This whole experience has been mostly what I expected.
During the past year I couldn’t stop thinking about college, about the dorm life, living out on my own, having a typically shorter day of classes as compared to high school, eating not-so-great dining hall food, meeting new people, and I have experienced all of it! I am also fortunate, in my opinion, that USC is relatively close to my house so I am able to visit my family on various weekends and haven’t gotten too homesick.
Some advice I would have for those out there looking to attend college next year is to get involved in something during your freshman year. That way you won’t just be in your room all the time not really experiencing college. A couple weeks ago there was a tryout for the club baseball team. I have played baseball my entire life and was a fairly promising pitching prospect at the beginning of high school. I, however, tore my labrum and rotator cuff and had a pretty major surgery, and that shattered my hopes of playing NCAA baseball. I am happy to have made the club team though, and am looking forward to traveling and playing against other universities.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I hope you come and check out future posts!
