Summer’s wrapping up and on comes the STRESS. What I’ve learned from this summer is a very important lesson, that I feel was more-or-less common sense, is to put special towards financial aid and scholarship deadlines and any outside funding you’re planning (or hoping) on receiving. Because they might not coincide correctly. For example: a scholarship deadline might be past the invoice due date of your first payment, so call the financial aid office and explain that your payment might not be on time. Then address any serious concerns as to whether or not you’ll have to have a minimum on your account in order to register for classes. It’s all a big rat race where scholarships and financial aid are controlling the cheese. The race leaves you in tangles with more anxiety than excitement but when things pan out, which is why it’s super important to get to know your financial office on a friendlier level, your year is underway! yay! If I were to do something different in all of the confusion, it would be to keep track of important invoices and call, call, call the financial aid office with any questions or hesitations or confusions. While on the many conversations, the FA office also checked my eligibility for a different type of subsidized loan and helped me find scholarships that would be more-or-less guaranteed depending on what I was planning for my semester. They also weren’t afraid to help make a plan on how to pay for books and other necessities. Overall, a VERY productive call. (that I really wished I’d made sooner) But I’m excited nonetheless, I’ll be taking my brothers hand-me-down car, a small road trip for my S.O and I. 🙂
My best wishes to you on your ways and may your summer end with a sigh of relief from preparation and determination for this upcoming year. Cheers!
