Ashley in Spanish Fork, UT

I am the first in my family to go to college. My mom dropped out of high school, and my dad graduated from high school. At first, I didn’t understand why they didn’t continue their education to get a better job until I went to Mexico and saw kids working instead of being in school, they drop out of school to get jobs and to be able to support their family.

Education is very important to me because my parents from Mexico have always taught me that not every country has the same opportunities as the United States of America. Whether it’s with housing, food, or education. Although my parents are unfamiliar with the process of college, they have been a great support by helping find the information I need; their influence is the reason why I plan on helping people in health situations with my knowledge, love, and passion.
