As someone who grew up in a home where neither parent attended college, I began dreaming of my future from a young age. I decided I wanted to become a dental hygienist at the age of eight years old. I want to prove that I am able to accomplish goals that I set forth for myself. Since I am responsible for paying for my college and I am a first generation college student, I need all the help I can get. I encourage anyone who is a first generation college student, like myself, to go above and beyond, apply for scholarships, and never give up during the college process. I can’t thank my teachers, coaches, and counselors enough for pushing me to be the person I am today. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
