Around this time of year, people start talking about all the things that they are thankful for… and we think that everybody has a giant list but they really don’t! Honestly, we should be thankful for MUCH more. There are so many people in our lives that have helped us get where we are, especially our parents, who have made so many sacrifices for us. We should be thankful for the simple fact that we can type/read this blog! If you have Internet right now, you are one of the lucky people who live in a developed country. I don’t think we realize how much we have sometimes… I remember the other day, somebody in my dorm was complaining about the food, even though my college literally has the best dining in the nation! Just remember to appreciate all the special things and people. Even when it’s not Thanksgiving, remember to say thank you to every stranger who opens the door for you and to be thankful for even having food at dinner.
I know I am especially thankful for my fairly easy transition to college. I have a lot of friends who struggled adjusting and being away from their friends and family. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I miss my friends and family but I just jumped right into the college scene! I joined clubs (and the rugby team!) and went to lectures, and pretty soon, I found that I was so busy that I didn’t even have time to worry or miss people! Basically, just make what you can out of every situation because you usually only get one try! Be open-minded, explore, and do some character building!
Everything will be okay.
